History of Stung Treng

Stung Treng sits at a major river junction where the Mekong meets the Sekong making it historically important as a trading and navigation point. Ancient ruins at Thala Barivat suggest Angkorian-era significance. The province was part of French Indochina's network connecting Cambodia to Laos. Stung Treng remains one of Cambodia's quietest provinces beloved by adventurous travelers exploring the upper Mekong.
